4. Impeded drainage

If you remarked that there is a lot of water into the hole or partly filled the hole a few days later after rain then the drainage condition of the soil is impeded. In this condition, you can see the water has seeped in from the surrounding soil of the hole.

An artificial aid that may be tile drains or soakaway, as well as double digging the topsoil in autumn, is needed for improving the drainage condition. It will be better if you add good quality topsoil to the whole surface of your garden.
