Doing this will help to avoid any undesirable fuel falls and makes the entire task a quick and easy one. It is better to store the fuel safely far away from where you are working, store it in a sealed container.

Step 3: Inspect and loosen the blade bolt on your lawn mower

The very next thing is, reverse the lawn mower safely, wearing gloves and glasses. You will see the blades are in front of you, and those are tightened with a bolt in the middle portion. To change the lawn mower blades, you have to remove them first and for that, you have to loosen that bolt. Begin to loosen the blade bolt by turning it counter-clockwise. These bolts can vary and they can be several in numbers as well, depending on the type of lawn mower that you have. Sometimes you may or may not have special washers attached to them. Never misplace those washers if it has, because for tightening the blades you will need them.

Step 4 – Remove the old & Replace with the new blade

It is time for you to remove the old blades, but before doing that inspect all the blades for any damage. If there are signs of damage, cracks, or dents on the lawn mower blade, you have to replace it. For installing new blades, you need to determine the direction of the new blades facing the direction of rotation. Spare blade for push mowers is commonly available in a few dollars at most hardware stores, so if the blades are particularly worn out, replacing them is the best option instead of sharpening them. Whatever, it is up to you.

After you position the blade, you have to ensure the balance of the blade once more, before you start tightening it into position. An unstable blade can cause penetrating vibrations that can lead to destruction occurring to the mower deck and motor.

Step 5: Tighten the Bolt

The last thing you have to do is, place the blade bolt into the center hole and then tighten it. Depending on your mower model it is significant to check bolt terms for tightening. You have to ensure it is not over or under torqued.
