Flowers That Bloom in April

April is a month of renewal and rebirth. The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, and the flowers are starting to bloom. If you’re looking for a little bit of beauty in your life, consider planting some of these flowers that bloom in April.

Daffodils

Daffodils are one of the first flowers to bloom in spring and they are a sign that warmer weather is on the way. These yellow flowers are often associated with happiness and they make a great addition to any garden. Daffodils are relatively easy to care for and they will come back year after year.

Tulips

One of the most popular flowers in the world, tulips are a perennial bulb that blooms in the spring. There are over 3,000 varieties of tulips, which come in a wide range of colors including white, red, yellow, pink, purple and orange. The most common variety is the red tulip, which is associated with romantic love. Tulips arenative to Turkey and were first introduced to Europe in the 16th century.

Lilacs

Lilacs are one of the most popular spring-flowering shrubs. They come in a wide range of colors, from white and pale pink to deep lavender and purple. All lilacs have a sweet, heady fragrance that fills the air on a warm spring day.

There are over 200 species of lilac, but the most common varieties grown in gardens are the common lilac (Syringa vulgaris), Korean lilac (Syringa meyeri), and Japanese tree lilac (Syringa reticulata). Lilacs can be planted as specimen shrubs or used in hedges or as informal foundation plantings. They also make good cut flowers.

Lilacs prefer full sun and rich, well-drained soil. They are relatively drought tolerant once they are established, but they will produce more flowers if they are kept moist. Lilacs should be pruned immediately after they finish blooming to encourage new growth and more flowers next year.
